Mr Congeniality

With an amicable face that is more often than not lit up with a smile, A* has been dubbed “Mr Congeniality” by some members of the HealthServe team.

After hearing about HealthServe’s clinic from a friend after experiencing gastric pain, A* visited our Geylang clinic in April 2020. Subsequently, he has been at our clinic twice more for complications relating to his high blood pressure. He was given the appropriate treatment for both conditions and has since seen much improvement.

Apart from medical concerns, A* has also had troubles with work. A month into a job that he started in September 2019, he stopped receiving his salary. This continued for three months, from October to December of 2019, and his case, which has since been brought up to the relevant authorities, is still ongoing. In the meantime, A* finds himself without work and has been unable to regularly send money home to his family for over five months.

We at HealthServe are happy to have helped A* ease his financial burden. Since being introduced to HealthServe in April, he has received support from us in the form of financial assistance, rental fees, phone top-ups, and transport subsidies (EZ-Link card). He has also gotten meals from our food project in Jalan Besar.

When asked about life in Singapore, A* tell us he appreciates it very much, from the quality of food to the kind and hardworking people here. He works hard to improve on his English (and Singlish!) skills to better communicate with locals. We wish him all the best as his case continues to remain open.
