We approach the issues holistically

আমরা সার্বিকভাবে সমস্যা নিরসনে এগিয়ে যাই।

Through our medical clinics, casework, social assistance, advocacy, research and outreach programmes, we are working to address the complex and intertwined needs of migrant workers – from medical to legal, physical to emotional, mental to social.

Since 2007, we have helped thousands of migrant workers.

২০০৭ সাল থেকে শুরু করে আজ পর্যন্ত হাজারো প্রবাসী শ্রমিকের প্রতি আমরা সহযোগিতার হাত বাড়িয়ে দিয়েছি।

  • “All my hopes are for my baby. My focus, only my family. If I can give them satisfaction and happiness is enough for me.”

Meet A Malek, a first-time participant in our art engagement activity.

Drawing a picture of his family, Malek let us in about being a new dad - a tinge of sadness seeping through his wide smile. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Malek has not been home in more than two years, missing important family milestones. Yet, he perseveres, sharing what keeps him going despite the many sacrifices he has had to make. Swipe to read Malek's story!

  • Doctor and patient. Caseworker and client. Unlikely friendships, or not?

At HealthServe, a big part of the work we do lies in the bridging of communities. We see more similiarities beyond all our differences, and are grateful for every migrant worker who has come through our doors and now become a dear friend 🥰

As we begin the new year, join us in appreciating the warm friendships that blossom within the HealthServe community - be it through celebrating festivities together or supporting one another in times of need.

  • Including migrant voices in the conversation.

Today, we take a step back to ask ourselves: Do we really know what our migrant friends want, and the obstacles they face in expressing them?

HealthServe and many other stakeholders recently sat down with our friends from @agoodspacesg to discuss how, as a collective, we can build a more inclusive and compassionate society that cares for the migrant community in Singapore.

Head over to bit.ly/MWL3LR1 to find out how you can be a part of this change!

  • "Are migrant workers treated as 'workers' in their dormitories or as 'residents'?"

COVID-19 has drawn attention to the plight of our migrant community, especially concerning their living conditions.

Over the past year, our friends from @AGoodSpaceSG sought to identify the key challenges migrant workers face. Speaking to diverse stakeholders including HealthServe and our Executive Director Michael Cheah, the study uncovered findings that could tackle these complex issues and improve workers' wellbeing.

What is the first step that's needed?

  • Sharing the festive cheer with our migrant community! ✨

From a Christmas Food Market at Westlite Jalan Tukang dormitory to a full day of activities at Penjuru RC on Christmas Day itself - gift distributions, art engagements, and a photo booth where our migrant brothers got to capture fun memories with their friends!

These past two years have not been easy, especially for dorm-dwelling migrant workers, and we hope to have brought them some joy and laughter this festive season.

Of course, these celebrations would not have been possible without the support of our dedicated volunteers and partners including @kingdomcitysg , Westlite Accommodations and @lighthouseclubsg. Thank you for joining us this year!

A WORLD TOGETHER

“A World Together” is a music video project in collaboration with Voices of Singapore. It features a 180-strong virtual choir of children, healthcare professionals and the HealthServe team singing, as well as interviews with our migrant friends from various industries.

THE SOLIDARITY WALL

Stand together with our migrant friends to help each other through this time by sharing a message of encouragement and hope in videos, pictures or words.

Sometimes hearing what others are going through and listening or reading words of encouragement can give you strength to fight through another day. That’s why we’ve started the Solidarity Wall where you can read and post encouraging messages and tips to each other during this time.

RESOURCES FOR MIGRANTS

Monday 13th April: To support ongoing efforts to help educate migrant workers and provide remote counselling and casework support, HealthServe launched a hotline and website in Tamil, Bengali, Chinese and English. The public can also use the hotline to submit messages of encouragement which may be published on our upcoming Solidarity Wall.
