The Mental Health Education Trainer (MHET) is primarily responsible for the training of mental health content. Reporting to the Mental Health Education Specialist – Team Lead, the MHET will play a vital role helping shape the migrant community’s mental health landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Train Mental Health content at dormitories, worksites, or online
- Coordinate volunteers and manpower for training programmes
- Maintain and update programme materials and logistics
- Support administrative duties related to training
- Liaise with stakeholders for venue requirements
- Build good rapport with Peer Support Leaders (Migrant workers trained in mental health skills and knowledge) in the Peer Support Network, volunteers, and stakeholders
- Conduct training surveys, collate and report findings
- Support other training related work and programme
Candidate Requirements/ Skills
- Technical competencies
- Proficient in speaking and writing in the Bengali or Tamil language
- Proficient in building rapport with migrant workers
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is a plus
- Event coordination experience is a plus
- Core competencies
- Willing and able to be present for training sessions (weekends/ evenings), and able to support during periods of emergency
- Able to multi-task and deliver effectively, and possess the resilience to handle challenges
- Enjoys interacting with migrant workers and volunteers, and able to hold conversations
- Comfortable with interacting with people from different cultures and religions
- Unafraid to ask questions and raise concerns/potential problems early
- Preferred achievements / characteristics
- Experience with migrant workers in the construction, marine, process industry is preferred
