SINGAPORE – In commemoration of Singapore’s bicentennial year, Hope Initiative Alliance and arts@work, together with Far East Organization and Far East Plaza, will launch ‘Our Place in the World’ – a bicentennial fundraising photo exhibition featuring works by Speaker of Parliament, Tan Chuan-Jin. It will be held at Far East Plaza on 31st of January 2019. The collaboration showcases Mr Tan’s photographs, taken during his travels over the last 20 years. Through his lens, we see panoramic shots of landscapes and cities, with a focus on different peoples and communities who have made their homes across these various spaces, and across time. ‘Our Place in the World’ calls for a collective Singaporean effort in raising up families and individuals who need a helping hand.

Mr Tan hopes to use the exhibition to help raise funds for the poor, disadvantaged and marginalised communities in Singapore. Thirteen charities, including ex-offenders, Youth-at- Risk and guest workers, will benefit from the support. The fundraising effort hopes to transform more lives by helping families and individuals who are in need break out of the poverty cycle. Said Mr Tan, “I realise just how much we have in common as a human race around the world. We may all have different roots, different journeys, different homes. But we do share a common humanity that ties everyone together. We are different, yet the same.” The exhibition is open for public viewing from 1st to 28th of February 2019. The public can support the fundraising efforts by making a donation, and receive a limited-edition exclusive metal print ($10,000 each), premium photo book box set ($5,000 per set), special photo book box set ($1,000 per set), or postcard pack ($50 per pack). All proceeds will go towards supporting the 13 partnering charities.

The exhibition catalogue is available at Visit the full exhibition at 14 Scotts Road, Far East Plaza Level 2 Concourse, Singapore 228213.

Sama Sama 2.0 launched in January

Following from the first Sama Sama installation in a migrant dormitory in 2016, HealthServe has partnered again for Singapore's first ever migrant worker traveling art-tech exhibition - Sama Sama 2.0.

We were proud to bring our community together for a special launch of Sama Sama 2.0 at SMU on the 27th January 2019 following a prelaunch of the exhibition for SMU Patron's Day on the 25th January 2019 where the team had the privilege of meeting with Singapore President Halimah Yacob.

HealthServe’s community of migrant volunteers and beneficiaries, partners, and supporters came to show their support at the Official VIP Launch with more than 80 people present. Performances were given by The Migrant Band and poets Ripon and Shara. A big thank you to all the volunteers involved in making the launch of Sama Sama 2.0 a success and our food sponsor Elsie's Kitchen!

The exhibition was held at SMU’s Li Ka Shing LIbrary from 25th January to the 9th February. Upcoming locations will be announced throughout the year.
