Light the lanterns, bring out the mooncakes, sip some tea and let the beauty of the full moon captivate you. It’s the time of the year to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival on Sep 19, 7pm Highpoint Geylang with our Chinese migrant friends. There will be traditional games such as “cai deng mi” (solve the riddles), a Chinese orchestra performance, a song item put up by our migrant workers and even a magic show – not exactly traditional, but fun nonetheless!

This year’s celebration, jointly organised by HighPoint and HealthServe, is going to be a little special. There will be a nine-course authentic Chinese dinner for about 400 workers. We are appealing to you to sponsor a table for the migrant workers and part of the proceeds will go to families devastated by the recent floods in Jilin, China. The cause is championed by one of our migrant friends living in the area, who has appealed to HealthServe to help raise awareness and aid. There will be an auction of a beautiful calligraphy piece by Yu Chun Qiang, a migrant friend of ours. Funds collected will go into rebuilding homes or buying essentials to help affected families tide over the winter season.

How You can Participate

1. Sponsor a table, fund a cause
When you sponsor a table of 10 migrant workers ($300 per table) for dinner, half of it will go to covering the cost of the event and the other half, to the Jilin flood relief fund.
 
2. Join the feast
Enjoy the food and festivities for $30 per person -- it's a good opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new migrant friends.
 
3. Be a Volunteer
Many hands make light work, be it setting up the AV system, directing traffic, serving food or registering people. Let us know if you're keen to help out!
